An Adventureland Story

As we prepared to depart from our Jungle Cruise boat, our funny girl guide said in a moment of foreshadowing, "And as you leave please remember to watch your language. This is a family park and we'd like to keep it that way."

We walked along and ended up behind a family with four blond kids straggling behind their mom. A little boy, about four years old, was drinking a gatorade almost as big as he was. His older sister, probably about 8, decided she wanted some and went to grab the bottle from him. He pulled back and it spilled on the ground. He told her emphatically, "I am DRINKING this and you made me SPILL IT!"

She replied, "Mom told you not to drink while you were walking," then for good measure quietly added, "Baby!"

He looked at her and yelled, "You're an..." I thought no way, he's not going to...but then he did.
"You're an ASSHOLE!"

Our hands shot to our mouths in disbelief and an attempt to cover our amusement. The 10-year old brother heard and started laughing, but still felt the need to tattle. "Mom, he's swearing and I have five witnesses who heard it," he cried while looking at us for approval. The sister chimed in, "Mom, did you hear that?" Without missing a beat she looked back and yelled,

"Well if you'd quit being a BUTTHEAD he wouldn't curse at you!"

We parted directions, and with a shake of our heads it was suddenly clear where his precocious habit had come from. Still it was pretty amusing to hear that big word coming from such a little body.
